Dr. Anne Rao
Dr. Anne Rao, born and raised in India, always dreamed of becoming a Pediatrician. After graduating from medical school, it was an easy decision for her to choose Pediatrics as her specialty. She graduated from Sri Venkateswara Medical College at a young age and moved to the USA shortly after in 2000.
Dr. Anne Rao completed her Pediatric residency at Sinai Children’s Hospital in Chicago, IL. Following her residency, she served as a Research fellow in Children’s division of the National Institute of health in Bethesda, MD, focusing on rare metabolic disorders such as Niemann-Pick Disease, Smith-lemli-Opitz syndrome, and Infantile Batten’s disease while also providing patient care to pediatric patients at the NIH hospital.
Throughout her training, Dr. Anne Rao developed a strong affinity for working with special needs children. Her dedication extends to addressing the increasing concerns in adolescent mental health, a passion that has grown along with the increasing prevalence of adolescent mental health concerns in recent years.
Dr. Anne Rao joined Opal Court Pediatrics alongside the Late Dr. Weiss, Dr. Shuster, and Dr. Budi in 2012. She found great fulfillment working with the Opal Court Pediatrics team, which has become like a family to her. Taking over the practice at the beginning of 2023, she continues to thrive in her role.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Anne Rao resides in the Hagerstown with her husband Dr. Samuel Rao, Family Practice and their two children. Together, they are dedicated to serving the Hagerstown Community and improving the health care in the region.
